Long known for his figurative paintings about his African-American family and Black culture, Joe Diggs is now delving into visual abstractions that merge into a spiritual memory of traditional woven surfaces. Smaller works, painted on fast food containers scribbled with card game scores and “notes to self” scattered throughout, convert ordinary cardboard into art.
